We’ve got two local events happening right near Angel Welcome Bed and Breakfast on September 24 – sounds like a really fun weekend!
Milan, Ohio will honor it’s 200-year anniversary with a Bicentennial Celebration at the Village Square on September 24, at 2pm. A time capsule will be buried with multiple items representing the town, to be unearthed and opened in 2117. This is truly a town-wide endeavor, with students from the elementary, middle and high schools contributing essays and logos which will be used on the capsule itself, t-shirts and programs. The capsule itself will be produced and donated by Siemens Industry Metals Division, while RMH Concrete has
agreed to do the concrete work for our time capsule & surrounding
pad. The capstone for the capsule’s burial spot will be donated by Franklin Monument. This should be a lovely commemoration of the town on a (hopefully) beautiful early-fall day.
In nearby Vermilion, the 45th annual Woolybear Parade and Festival will take place on the same day. The Wooly Bear is a fuzzy caterpillar who, as legend has it, can predict the severity of the upcoming winter by the size of his colored segments. The events start at around 9am, at the two festival areas in the center of historic
downtown Vermilion, Ohio. One is at Victory Park on Rt. 60 (S. Main St.)
north of Ohio St. The second is in Exchange Park at the corner of Rt.
60 (N. Main St.) and Rt. 6 (Liberty Ave.). You can find entertainment, food booths, craft booths, and merchant
sales. Woollybear merchandise
will be available at the Vermilion Chamber of Commerce stand. Various
entertainers are at the main stage throughout the day. The parade takes place at 1:30 and lasts about 2 hours.
Whether you attend one or both of these fabulous fall festivals, you will enjoy a lovely day in Northern Ohio!
