It’s not to early to think about the Milan Melon Festival, held as always, on Labor day weekend, September 1-3. The Melon Festival started in 1958 and has been going strong since. The festival is held in the Milan Village Square.
Events include a parade with awards for best color guard, twirler, baton corps, floats and many more; a beautiful baby contest, bands, entertainers, dances, carnival rides, even a “Melon Idol” contest!
Many vendors will be available for your shopping and eating pleasure- don’t miss the famous watermelon sherbet and canteloupe (also known as Musk Melon or “mussmelon”) ice cream.
So many things to see and do in beautiful Milan, Ohio- if you’re staying over for the whole weekend, consider a stay at Angel Welcome Bed and Breakfast.
Labor Day is just around the corner and I'm sure your guests are getting pretty excited. The Melon festival sounds like a great way to enjoy a day out to enjoy a parade, live music, and some good old fashioned "mussmelon" ice cream.
I really like your blog, I appreciate that you keep it up to date with upcoming attractions. My name is Marc, and aside from my sudden want of ice cream, I also work for Bescover — where we love all things B&B! It's truly a privilege being a part of your online community.
Whenever and wherever something like this takes place, it's easily one of the more exciting times of the year. I can still remember the rush to get ready to watch the Parade of Roses around here.
